Imo State to Get Ultra-Modern Computer Market in Owerri

The good news is coming from Imo State. The Executive Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has started building a new Computer Village in Owerri, the state capital.
The project is designed to create a technology and electronics hub that will rival those in major cities like Lagos and Abuja.
According to information from government sources, the new Computer Village will be located right at the heart of Owerri and will feature modern infrastructure, spacious shops, and digital business facilities to promote ICT innovation and electronic trade within the South East region.
The market will be a modern center for selling computers, phones, and electronic gadgets. It will also help young people learn and do business in technology. The project is located in the heart of Owerri and will have new buildings, shops, and good roads.
Residents and business owners in Imo have welcomed the development, describing it as a timely and strategic step toward growing the region’s economy. They noted that the South East has produced some of the most successful traders and tech entrepreneurs in Nigeria, many of whom operate outside the region.
Analysts believe that establishing such markets within Igboland will encourage local investment, create jobs for young people, and reduce the economic overdependence on other cities like Lagos. They argue that the time has come for the Igbo people to channel their creativity, capital, and business energy into building modern markets and technology centers in their own homeland.

The Owerri Computer Village, when completed, is expected to attract investors, boost e-commerce, and strengthen Imo’s position as an emerging business hub in the South East.
Many observers see the project as a major milestone in regional development and a clear example of how visionary leadership can inspire Igbos to rebuild and modernize their economy from within.
The call now is for more Igbo businessmen and women, at home and in the diaspora, to key into this vision by investing in similar markets across the five South Eastern states — from Aba to Enugu, from Nnewi to Abakaliki — so that Igboland can take its rightful place as a strong commercial center of Nigeria once again.
